1971 aaron has enjoyed over 60 major international solo shows to date and his work is held in many significant collections born in auckland aaron discovered japanese pottery techniques for the first time while he was studying in sydney.

Through a series of encounters and experiences while learning his craft in sydney he discovered his love for wood firing ceramics and for japanese korean pots. Japanese traditions such as mingei and chadōgu tea ceremony wares greatly influenced the philosophical approach and techniques which can be seen in his work today. This fascination ultimately led him to build his own kiln to experiment and explore traditional shino glazes. Over the next several years he found new ways to pursue pottery making including taking courses in sydney australia.
